Get better search results on Google
Use quotation marks. If you type in “Civil War” instead of Civil War, Google will search for those two words together, instead of finding articles using the word Civil or War. The more key words you use, the better your results will be.
Exclude certain terms. Place a minus sign (“-“) right before a keyword to avoid results associated with that term. This works well when you want to filter out a news story that’s dominating the headlines. You can exclude specific websites using the same trick.
Add parameters. Putting “OR” between several keywords will yield broader results. To narrow the time frame of your results, use “before:” and “after:” followed by specific dates. Also an asterisk (” * “) is a wild card that replaces a single word.
