If you enjoy upgrading to a new operating system for bells & whistles, you may have already downloaded and installed iOS 18.2 for the iPhone. Here are 2 new features.
If you don’t like to be bothered using the buttons to turn your iPhone off, you can now do it from the Control Center. To get there, swipe down from the top right of your phone. You’ll see among other changes, a power .button in the top right of your screen. Just tap it!
Use a QR code to share your WIFI password. Go to the Passwords app on your phone. Click the Wi-Fi button.Choose your WI-FI network. You will see an option to Show Network QR code. Very cool!
Tip of the month
Windows Snipping Tool
I use the built in Snipping Tool at least once every day. It is a valuable tool to take a screenshot – a small spacee or a larger part of a screen – and then save it, copy it, print it, etc… You can easily get the Snipping Tool either by searching in your programs, or using the keystrokes of Windows key + Shift + S. I have it pinned to my bottom taskbar so it is easily accessible. Once you have the program open, click the +New button at the top left and then drag a rectangle around the area of your screen that you want to capture.
There is a second feature in Snipping Tool. You can record a screencast by toggling the mode from screenshot to screencast (by clicking the film camera icon). Then, drag your mouse cursor to define the area you want to record, whether it’s an entire window or just a certain section. After a three-second countdown, the tool will begin recording. You can do whatever you want on screen and it’ll be recorded in the screencast. Use the Pause button to temporarily pause or the Stop button to end recording altogether. Use the Microphone and Speaker buttons to mute or unmute the recording of microphone and/or system audio. There is a Play button on the Snipping Tool’s window and you can save your recording as well.
