I admit that I deleted my Facebook account years ago. I did it partly because I got tired of seeing that people had a great salad for lunch or that they were off to the grocery stores. (I’m not making these up.) I also read too much about how much data Facebook (now Meta) had on you. So if you are ready to stop wasting time on this particular social media, make sure you download your data before just canceling your account. Many are paring down their social accounts and this has partly happened because of the removal of fact-checking and the dangers to teens and younger users that were ignored. Today I will give you preliminary steps. Next month, the final steps.
Before deleting your account, find all the third party sites that allow you to login with your Facebook account. These will be affected. Here’s how to identify them:
Sign in to Facebook.
Go to Settings & privacy > Settings > Apps and websites. (Apps and websites is on the left, but you’ll need to scroll down a bit. It’s nested under Your Activity.)
Select Remove next to the associated app to remove the third-party login.
You have two options if you want to
You now have 2 options to separate from Facebook. You can delete your account, or you can deactivate the account. With either option, your profile, posts, photos and timeline will be inaccessible to others. Any photos you have posted will disappear, Deactivating your account doesn’t delete your data and you can reactivate it whenever you want.
Tip of the month
More fun iPhone features 1.Schedule a text to send later. If you don’t want people to know you’re awake at all hours of the night, schedule your messages to send at more normal hours. Open a chat, type your text, and then tap the + on the left side of the message field. Select Send Later, then choose a day and time for your scheduled message to be delivered.
2. Use the space bar as a cursor when editing messages. If you spot a typo while writing out a text message, the space bar makes it easy to edit without having to erase the entire message. Simply long-press the space bar on the keyboard and move the cursor to whichever part of the sentence you want to make a change. Once you let go, it will remain in the exact location you placed it in, allowing you to precisely edit the message.
3.Send a custom poll in group chats via Messages. Group decisions aren’t easy — especially via text. To make the process easier and more organized, you can create and send polls to gather feedback. In the Messages app, tap the plus sign, then select Polls, type your poll with a custom question and up to 12 choices, and hit send. Everyone in the group chat can then tap on an option to submit their vote.
